Who We Are

Rooted in the Word. Led by the Spirit.

01

Our Mission

Our mission is to glorify God, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and empower His people through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to live transformed lives. We are committed to reaching the lost, strengthening families, building disciples, and serving our community while demonstrating the love of Christ to everyone we encounter.

02

Our Vision

We envision a church where people are saved, lives are changed, families are restored, people are equipped, and leaders are developed to fulfill their God-given purpose. We desire to be a beacon of hope, a house of prayer, a place of healing, and a community of believers where everyone can experience the love, power, and presence of God.

A Warm Welcome

Greetings from Pastor and Lady Nailer

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Pastor Dexter and Lady Minister Martha Nailer, along with the entire Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church family, welcome you. It is our joy and privilege to invite you to come worship with us.

“Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” Psalm 127:1

What a powerful statement! We can build buildings, make plans, organize programs, and work hard—but unless the Lord is in it, our labor is in vain.

We believe Mt. Zion is standing because God has been building this house:

  • He has been building us through His Word.
  • He has been building us through prayer.
  • He has been building us through trials and testimonies.
  • He has been building us through the generations that came before us.

And He is still building us today! When you walk through our doors, we do not want you to see only a church building. We want you to see a people who are trusting God to continue building His Church.

So come join us!Come expecting God to move.Come expecting God to speak.Come expecting God to encourage your heart.Come expecting God to do what only God can do!

Once again, on behalf of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Shaw, Mississippi, we invite everyone to come worship with us.

God bless,
Pastor Dexter K. Nailer Sr. & Lady Minister Martha Nailer

Spiritual Leadership

About Our Pastor

Pastor Dexter K. Nailer, a native of Shaw, Mississippi, is the son of the late Otha and Earmy Nailer.

Pastor Nailer attended Ruleville Central School in Ruleville, Mississippi. He earned a bachelor’s degree in ministry from the Exodus School of the Bible in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Pastor Nailer is married to the former Martha Humphries of Shaw, Mississippi. They are the proud parents of one daughter, Jasmine, and two sons, Dexter Jr. and Isaiah. They are also the loving grandparents of five grandchildren whom they cherish.

He stands boldly, sharing the amazing grace of God’s love for humanity and how God has blessed and taught him to live a Christ-filled life.

Pastor Nailer is doing great work through Christ for Mt. Zion, and he looks forward to helping create meaningful change throughout the Shaw community. Under his leadership, the church has maintained consistent spiritual growth, welcoming more than 35 new members, one deacon, and five ministers.

His goals are to strengthen the church’s ministry and extend its outreach through meaningful programs that address the spiritual, educational, emotional, and financial needs of individuals and families in the congregation and community.

Community Safety • A Life Saved

Mrs. Gladys Johnson’s Testimony

Mrs. Gladys Johnson, a loyal and dutiful member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, received a free carbon monoxide detector through the church’s community outreach. After the unit was installed in her home, it alerted her to dangerous carbon monoxide and helped save her life.

In this special testimony, Mrs. Johnson is interviewed by her sister, Mrs. Eleanor Scott—another loyal and dutiful member of Mount Zion. Together, they share why this lifesaving ministry mattered and why every home should have a working carbon monoxide detector.

Youth Ministry

You Were Created for a Purpose

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers.” 1 Timothy 4:12

Your age does not limit your purpose. When God calls you, He also prepares you. Like David facing Goliath, courage comes from trusting God—not from size, popularity, or position.

I am loved by God. I have a purpose. I will use my gifts and become everything God created me to be.

Women’s Ministry

Women of Faith, Strength, and Purpose

“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.” Proverbs 31:25

Esther reminds us that God can position one faithful woman to bring protection, hope, and change to an entire community.

I am a woman of faith. I will pray, encourage, build, serve, and walk boldly in my God-given purpose.

Church Ministry

Except the Lord Build the House

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” Psalm 127:1

The church is more than a building. We are a family called to pray together, grow together, help one another, and carry the love of Jesus Christ into our community.

We are a house of prayer, a place of healing, a family of believers, and a beacon of hope.

The Ministry of Giving

Serving God by Serving Others

“For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink.” Matthew 25:35

Giving includes more than money. We can give food, clothing, time, encouragement, transportation, knowledge, prayer, and compassion. The Good Samaritan teaches us that love sees a need, stops, and takes action.

What God places in our hands may be the blessing someone else has been praying to receive.

When Love Grows Cold

Let Us Return to Love

The Bible warns that the love of many will grow cold. Yet God has not called us to surrender to hatred or division.

“Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 22:39

When the world grows cold, God’s people must become a greater light.

Famine in the Land

A Hunger for the Word of God

Amos 8:11 speaks of a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. Joseph’s story in Genesis 41 teaches that faith and preparation work together.

We can pray while preparing our families, sharing resources, supporting food ministries, learning useful skills, and helping our neighbors.

Stay Encouraged

Keep Walking by Faith

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.” Isaiah 41:10

When the road becomes difficult,
And the answer is delayed,
Remember God is with you,
So keep walking on by faith.

Keep praying, keep believing,
Let hope become your light.
God is working through the darkness,
And morning follows night.
